I have considered using GMOD in the Cloud (we are likely to set something like this up on our local OpenStack when it’s up and running), but as a quick assessment of a test run it seems a bit overkill.

This is a VERY good point Chris. I think the new web-apollo is developing into a great tool, but there is now a gapping hole in the area of a desktop application (i.e. no server setup) to view/edit genome annotations. I'd love to hear what others are using. Our group has been using a combination of old Apollo instances, Web-Apollo and Gbrowse.

Barry, Carson,
Are there any recommendations re: visualizing MAKER-generated GFF3? I know it’s currently geared towards Apollo integration, but as everything is moving towards Webapollo, attempts at finding the old local client Apollo code are a bit of an archaeological expedition (not to mention Apollo has always been a joy to set up from code :). Is everyone still trying to use the old Apollo, since it seems to no longer be supported?
At the moment I am really thinking of working on simple scripts to make IGV-friendly input (and possibly similar Artemis for our smaller genome projects), but I don’t want to repeat work already in place.
